Adam Ruf is a Staff UX Designer on Shopify's Mobile UX team and lead designer on the Front office sub-team, focused on helping merchants make sales. High-impact projects that Adam has led on the UX side include a redesign of the Products experience full of UX and performance improvements and a new 3D scanner that leverages Apple's latest technology to make 3D models with an iPhone or iPad.
Previously, Adam was designing at AngelList, Twitch, Yahoo, BrightRoll, and UserTesting. He also taught courses on UX research & design and front-end web development at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. An active design community member, Adam has presented actionable talks and workshops to hundreds of designers since 2014.
Adam helps designers and teams develop critical skills, hardworking portfolios, and design-driven cultures. Weekly live design streams, UX design contests, portfolio reviews, workshops, and 1:1 mentoring are just a few of the ways he supports the design community.
Adam is lucky to live in the San Francisco Bay Area with his incredible wife. Together, they love laughing 🤣, playing 🏸+ boardgames, hiking, snorkeling 🐠🐡🐙, and adventuring around the world ✈️.
